Lonesome Pine Raceway is a 3/8 mile asphalt oval that was founded in 1972 by Russell Large and Bill Hall who were businessmen from the Coeburn area.The designs used to build LPIR were far ahead of their time making it one of the finest facilities of its kind anywhere.
The track has seen many years of exciting racing action. Numerous famous drivers have made laps on the track including Richard Petty, Harry Gant, Alan Kulwiki, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and a host of others.
LPR is now under the ASA banner and looks forward to adding names to the distinguised list of drivers making it one of the most prestigious places to race in the country.
