Saturday August 7th
A&G COAL CORPORATION AND SUPER CUP STOCK CAR SERIES DIGGING INTO ASPHALT AT LONESOME PINE RACEWAY FOR A GOOD CAUSE FOR THE A&G COAL MINERS 100
A&G Coal Corporation, one of the areas largest economic contributors and employers in the Wise County area, is now a part of Southern Coal Corporation, a multi-state employer in the mining industry with subsidiaries in Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia. It is A&G’s privilege to be the sponsor of the Super Cup Stock Car Series and teaming up with them to support the Food Bank of Wise County, Inc. It is also with great pleasure that A&G is joined by the Virginia Mining Association and all of our Friends of Coal as an associate sponsor in our efforts to help the Food Bank and the community. Community is the basis on which A&G was built and when the community is in need, we are glad to help.
Saturday, August 7, A&G Coal will host its third annual Race Night at The Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, VA featuring the Super Cup Stock Car Series Coal Miner’s 100 along with the ISCAR Series and the Diamond Lawn Service Legends Division. Admissions for the evening’s racing action are $10-Adult, $5-Children 7-12 and 6 and under are free. Wise County Food Bank Volunteers will be on hand to take up donations of non-perishable canned or packaged food items and those fans donating food will receive $1 off per can (limit 3 cans per fan) totaling $3 off front gate admission to the races that night’s activities. Where else can you enjoy racing at a reasonable price and support a needy cause at the same time?
The Food Bank of Wise County, Inc. has been providing food to the needy for 25 years. Many local churches, businesses, civic organizations, individuals, Wise County, the City of Norton, and FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program generously support the Food Bank. The Boy Scouts, the Post Office, churches, schools, and other organizations conduct food drives. These contributions enable the Food Bank to assist over 560 families a month. However, the number of families seeking assistance has increased 30% in recent months severely straining the Food Bank's resources. Reluctantly the Food Bank has had to reduce the number of items that it previously provided in its food baskets. The Food Bank commends A&G Coal and the Super Cup Stock Car Series for their efforts to assist it in meeting the increasing need.
The night’s activities will begin with an autograph session at 5:45 on the race track for both the local and touring competitors with their race cars so everyone will have a chance to meet their favorite drivers. The racing action is slated to begin at 7pm with 25 laps from the Diamond Lawn Service Legends and the LPR Pure Four division up next with 25 laps for double points. Then we will have the first of the Twin 50 lappers from the ISCAR Series. The locals will take to the pavement once again, in the rapidly growing Late Model Charger division which will run for the double points at the checkers in a 40 lap race followed by,
A&G's Night at The Lonesome Pine Raceway featuring, The Super Cup Stock Car Series in the A&G Coal Miners 100 presented by Virginia Mining Association and friends of Coal, the ISCARS will take the 3/8 mile oval for the final of the Twin 50’s and wind up the night.
